Luxembourg, 14 August 2026 – Cube IM has agreed to sell its stake in firstcolo Holding GmbH (“firstcolo”), a Frankfurt-based colocation datacenter operator, to CVC DIF, with the transaction expected to close by the end of September 2026, subject to customary conditions.

Cube IM acquired firstcolo in November 2022 through its third flagship fund, Cube Infrastructure Fund III, marking its first investment in the European colocation datacenter sector. Since its acquisition, Cube IM has worked alongside the management team to scale the company and prepare it for its next phase of growth.

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Frankfurt, firstcolo provides colocation, dedicated cloud hardware, cloud, connectivity and managed services to more than 350 enterprise customers. The company operates two established, near-fully-utilised datacenters in the Frankfurt region and combines resilient infrastructure with a differentiated one-stop-shop service offering. This integrated model has fuelled long-standing customer relationships, recurring revenues and low churn.

Since Cube IM’s acquisition of firstcolo, the company has significantly strengthened its market position. Working alongside the management team, Cube IM supported the growth of the platform, nearly doubling adjusted EBITDA, securing 24 MW of power in the highly constrained Frankfurt market, establishing a strategic partnership with a regional utility provider and preparing the business for its next phase of expansion.

A key component of firstcolo’s future growth is FRA7, a new datacenter under construction in Rosbach in the Frankfurt metropolitan region. FRA7 will provide 24 MW of total gross capacity, with land, power, permits and fixed-price turnkey construction arrangements already secured. Firm customer commitments and strong demand provide a solid foundation for the facility’s ramp-up. The development is being delivered in partnership with a regional utility.

Going forward, CVC DIF will support firstcolo in delivering its growth strategy, including the successful delivery of FRA7 and the further expansion of its platform in the German colocation datacenter market.

Xavier Martin, Head of Telecoms & Digital at Cube IM, commented: “Since our investment in firstcolo, we have partnered with the management team to transform firstcolo into a scalable growth platform and built the foundations to increase the company’s datacenter capacity by an order of magnitude. It is now time to pass the torch to a new owner to fulfil this growth ambition. The Cube IM team aims to repeat this successful cycle with the rest of the digital assets in our portfolio.”

Jerome Evans, CEO and Co-Founder of firstcolo, commented: “We look back on our partnership with Cube IM with great appreciation. Over the past several years, Cube IM has been an important partner in the continued development of firstcolo and has helped us advance the business in a sustainable and forward-looking manner. Together, we strengthened our organisation, expanded our capabilities and created a solid foundation for the next phase of our growth. Throughout this period, Cube IM recognised and supported the entrepreneurial culture, technical expertise and customer focus that define firstcolo. We would like to thank the entire Cube IM team for their trust, commitment and constructive partnership.”
